Cubs over the Braves (+107). The Cubs are playing better as of late and the Braves are having a tough stretch. Injuries are piling up for the Braves, they’re 2-5 in their last 7 games, and their bullpen has been over-worked recently averaging almost 4 innings per game in their last 3 game series.
Red Sox over the Tigers (+125). We’re going with the pitching matchup here again as Becket should be able to get his 6th win of the season over Armando Galarraga of the Tigers.
Cardinals over the Reds (-123). We called this one wrong yesterday despite convincing indicators. Here’s what happened: Volquez on his first start back from the DL went out in the first inning with numbness in his hand. The Reds then threw 5 relievers in the next 8 innings to combine for a pretty quality pitching performance. The Reds got their big 3 runs in the 4th, after two outs, on a couple grounders through the infield. All in all, the Reds had to work very hard and catch a few breaks to win last night’s game and we’re not seeing them repeating that performance tonight.

The free pick of the day is Utah Jazz +3. I know the Lakers have been beating up on the Jazz for the majority of the first 2 games of the series, however, we saw signs of a turnaround from the Jazz in the 2nd half on Tuesday. Anyone who watched the Jazz all season knows they’re way better than they’ve been playing and I think after seeing what they were capable of against the Lakers in the 2nd half on Tuesday, Jerry Sloan will have these guys believing in themselves again and playing well tonight. Look for a very close game tonight most likely a 1 or 2 point game and I think even an outright Jazz win. Utah Jazz +3.
