Our free pick on Friday comes from the late night NBA pro basketball game between the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz.

Start time from Utah is set for 10:35PM Eastern Time with ESPN providing the national television telecast.

With our free pick we will play on the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz to play over the total of 209 points.

With the coaching change in Utah with the retirement of head coach Jerry Sloan and assistant coach Phil Johnson I expect the Jazz to be a bit more offensive minded in this contest.

The Suns have not been very good on the defensive end of the court on the road this season as the club allows its opponents 108 points and 48.2% shooting from the floor.

Utah has put up points in their past three games against bad defensive clubs with 107 points against Sacramento, 105 against Oklahoma City and 113 points at Denver.

The Suns also put up good offensive numbers against poor defensive clubs. They averaged 108 points in their two recent games against Golden St. They put up 107 against Oklahoma City.

They scored 106 or more points in road games at Cleveland, Washington and New York.

Without Jerry Sloan on the sidelines the defensive intensity will decrease for Utah.

Boston Celtics versus LA Lakers Sunday 1-30-2011 ABC TV NBA Pro Basketball Free Pick

With our free pick on Sunday we will select from the NBA pro basketball contest between the Boston Celtics and LA Lakers.

They start this NBA Finals rematch from Staples Center in Los Angeles at 3:30PM Eastern Time and its ABC with the national television broadcast.

Our free pick is playing on the Boston Celtics +3 points against the LA Lakers.

This is a big revenge spot for the Boston Celtics after blowing a 3-2 series lead against the Lakers in the Finals last season.

A lot has changed since game 7 last June for the Celtics. They will have the services of Kendrick Perkins in the lineup as he was forced to miss last years deciding game.

In the off season the Celtics acquired Shaquille O’Neal who will provide a strong presence in the middle forcing the Lakers to take outside shots.

These teams with physical interiors are not a good match up for this Lakers team who are more of a finesse basketball team.

The Celtics were out rebounded in game 6 and 7 last year by a combined 30 boards.

I expect a huge correction in this spot as the Celtics behind Kevin Garnett, Big Baby Davis, Shaq and Perkins will gain more possessions for a Boston team hitting nearly 50% from the field this season.

The Lakers have already dropped 6 games on their home court and have struggled against the better clubs on their schedule this season.

Charlotte Bobcats versus LA Clippers Saturday 1-29-2011 PPV TV NBA Pro Basketball Free Pick

Since the coaching change to Paul Silas the Charlotte Bobcats have been responding well on the basketball court. The club is a perfect 3-0 on this west coast trip and have won five of their past six games.

Charlotte is shooting the ball extremely well hitting over 50% of their shots over their past two games.

The Clippers are not enjoying life after the big injury to shooting guard Eric Gordon. This is a huge loss for the team.

LA has failed to cover their past four games as the defense has not been good.

The Clippers really lack bench depth and its very evident once a rotation player with heavy minutes like Gordon is off the court.

I know the Lakers have been beating up on the Jazz for the majority of the first 2 games of the series, however, we saw signs of a turnaround from the Jazz in the 2nd half on Tuesday. Anyone who watched the Jazz all season knows they’re way better than they’ve been playing and I think after seeing what they were capable of against the Lakers in the 2nd half on Tuesday, Jerry Sloan will have these guys believing in themselves again and playing well tonight. Look for a very close game tonight most likely a 1 or 2 point game and I think even an outright Jazz win. Utah Jazz +3.
