Tim Lincecum as an underdog????  Are you kidding me?

If Tim Lincecum pitched for a college team he’d have a chance to win against the Braves.  The fact is, he pitches for the Giants, who are a pretty good MLB team.  To get +105 with a healthy Tim Lincecum pitching is all I need to know.  The fact that he’s 2-0 with a 1.74 ERA in his last 3 starts or 1-0 this year against the Braves pitching 8 innings of scoreless ball or 5-0 career against the Braves with a 2.08 ERA is icing on the cake.  Take the Giants as an underdog at Pinnacle, Skybook, Interrops or anywhere else you can get it.  Giants +105 !

Ouch.  The Phillies hammered me yesterday, breaking our 6 game win streak.  Back to the winning ways today with an American League game.

It’s Braden vs Swarzak today.  Braden has done very well against  the Twins in his careen, sporting a 2.89 ERA over 3 games.  He’s not the best pitcher in the League, but he’s not too bad.  Luckily, he’s facing Anthony Swarzak, who is only pitching in his 7th Major League game ever.  Swarzak got beat up a little the last time he faced the A’s earlier this year, giving up 4 hits and 3 ER in less than 4 innings.

I think Braden rebounds from a poor start in his last outing and gets back to the way he was pitching the previous 5 games before that and shuts down the Twins.  Take the A’s -128 at home in this one.

The Cubs have Soriano back and they are poised to make a run at the pennant.  They may be one offensive bat away from taking the division.  Today they throw Ted Lilly against Rodrigo Lopez.  Lilly has been strong this year and in his recent games.  He’s only given up 3 free passes and has 20 strikeouts in his last 3 starts covering 21 innings.  The Phillies sticks are strong, but I think Lilly can keep them in check today.  Lopez is making his first start since coming out of his last game with shoulder problems.  His 4.78 career ERA is a pretty good indicator that he’s not a top notch pitcher and most likely his days are numbered in the starting rotation, as Pedro Martinez will surely take his spot in the rotation.  With the pressure to perform high and the shoulder issue looming, it could be a short outing for Lopez with Soriano and Lee looking to do some early damage.  Take the Cubs +104 in this one.

Today it’s J.A. Happ vs Andrew Miller.  The Phillies have won 7 straight and 9 out of 10.  Happ is an amazing 6-0 on the year and has an ERA of 2.90.  His ERA is an even better 2.57 in his last 3 outings.  Florida is going to throw a bunch of right handed hitters at the lefthander Happ today and Happ’s ERA against right handed hitters is even better than against lefties, at 2.31 for the year.  Miller gives up a lot of hits.  In 5 of his last 6 starts he’s given up more hits than innings pitched.  Add walks onto that and you have a pitcher giving up too many baserunners to win in the Big Leagues.  Look for the Phillies to stay hot behind Happ and take them -110 at Pinnacle.
